Orange County Transportation Authority (OCTA) selected Athalye Consulting Engineering Services, Inc. (Athalye) to provide engineering plan check and design review services for five grade separation projects along the Burlington Northern Santa Fe (BNSF) Railway Corridor in the cities of Fullerton, Placentia and Anaheim. The grade separation projects consist of the Placentia Avenue Grade Separation – an underpass structure, Kraemer Boulevard Grade Separation – an underpass structure, Orangethorpe Avenue Grade Separation – an overhead structure, Tustin Avenue/Rose Drive Grade Separation – an overhead structure, and Lakeview Avenue Grade Separation – an overhead structure. The purpose of grade separations is to improve traffic safety and reduce delays by constructing an underpass/overpass structure.

The plan checking, design reviews, value engineering/analysis and constructability/bid-ability review services, a “risk-based” review to ascertain constructible and biddable project, and compliance with the approved environmental document, the latest City of Placentia Standard Drawings and Specifications, City of Anaheim Standard Drawings and Specifications, American Rail Engineers Maintenance Association (AREMA), BNSF Railway and Union Pacific Railroad Guidelines for Railroad Grade Separation Projects, the Standard Specifications for Public Works Construction (SSPWC), Orange County Flood Control District and other applicable OCTA Standards.
